True Crime Obsessed before "True Crime" Was a Thing
True crime has always fascinated me. The twists and turns of real-life mysteries, the psychological depths of criminal minds, and the pursuit of justice. All that stuff. But my passion for true crime goes beyond just watching documentaries or reading case files—I wanted to create something tangible for others who share this interest. That’s why I opened my own true crime store online.
A Passion Turned Business
It is safe to say that I have been true crime obsessed before the phrase "True Crime" was a thing... For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to crime stories—not for their darkness, but for the way they reveal the resilience of victims, the brilliance of investigators, and the complexities of human nature. I found myself collecting books, memorabilia, and even artwork inspired by some of history’s most intriguing cases. Over time, I realized I wasn’t alone in this interest, and there was a growing community that appreciated the same things I did. That’s when the idea of an online store dedicated to true crime enthusiasts was born.
Creating a Community, Not Just a Shop
My goal was never just to sell products—it was to build a community. I wanted to provide fellow true crime fans with unique items that sparked conversation, curiosity, and even education about criminal cases. This is why we opened our Etsy shop in 2019, which has grown to make over 5,000 sales worldwide with a 5-Star review average. Expanding beyond selling on Etsy, Crooked & Straight are proud to work with our law enforcement partners who investigate these crimes and bring justice to those responsible.
I know that true crime can be a delicate subject. That’s why I am committed to handling this genre with respect. My store focuses on honoring victims, raising awareness, and supporting ethical true crime storytelling.
